The Bet imageThe Bet by Rachel Van Dyken

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book Summary:

"I have a proposition for you..."
Kacey should have run the minute those words left Seattle millionaire Jake Titus's mouth. Instead, she made a deal with the devil in hopes of putting her past behind her once and for all.
Four days.
She could do four days!
But she wasn't counting on Jake’s older brother Travis being there to witness their farce of an engagement.
One thing is for certain.
One brother is right for her.
One wants a lifetime.
And one is in league with the devil.
She should have gotten Jake’s signature in blood.

My Review:

***I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The Bet is a fun, cute, and sweet read. I have lots of laugh-out-loud moments with this book..it was a perfect stress reliever, I ended up having a goodnight after reading it..massive headache forgotten :).

Favorite line: (Kacey seeing a spider on Travis's butt) "Oh gosh, it's moving! It's so gross! Can't you just like, flex your butt or something?"

Honestly, I have my doubts about liking this book when Jake was first introduce into the story, I'm pretty scared I won't be able to like Travis, I mean Jake's a jerk, but he's a hot playboy jerk lol, and girls tend to fall in love with the bad guys in hope of being the one to change them right? But Travis is a guy every woman needs to have..a keeper. He's sweet and caring...totally lovable, and definitely sexier than Jake!

Kacey. She is the kind of heroine that you won't have a hard time liking but Grandma Nadine is the most lovable character here in the story totally outshining Kacey, I wish every grandmother in the world is as cool as her.

I'm giving this 4.5 stars. I totally loved and enjoyed reading The Bet and will recommend it to my friends.

The Succubus Gift (The Telepathic Clans, #1)The Succubus Gift by B.R. Kingsolver

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Book Summary:

Book 1 of the Telepathic Clans Saga.

The history of the Clans, called the Sidhe by the Irish, stretches back to antiquity. The Goddess blesses Her people with 25 Telepathic Gifts. In addition to Telepathy, the Gifts include command over Air and Fire, Telekinesis and Teleportation. In over 2,500 years, She has never bestowed more than 15 Gifts on a single person.

Brenna Morgan was orphaned at eight when her parents were killed in a plane crash. Through one foster home after another, she carried the ornate, carved wooden box her mother had left with her, keeping it always a secret. Then one night she stumbles over a man who claims her as family.

Brenna’s life isn’t the same after she discovers her unusual and mysterious heritage. In addition to being a telepath, Brenna learns she has the Succubus Gift.

That’s just the beginning of her problems. Someone is stalking her. Then there’s the tall, dangerous woman who shadows her and hints a Goddess has linked them. And what is she going to do with a handsome, charismatic, womanizing man she knows she should avoid?

Some days a girl just wants to pull the covers over her head and stay in bed -- with a willing young man of course.

Urban Fantasy with a dash of romance. The Succubus Gift is a completely different take on the succubus myth. Beautiful women and hot men in a world with a hidden telepathic subculture.

My Review:

***I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I love how the Author creates a world where "gifts" exist, the abilities are all wonderful even though some of them are frightening...unlike the Vampires and Werewolves, people with gifts doesn't need to drink blood or do anything to maintain their gifts..which is so kick-ass and hassle-free. I love Vampire and Werewolves stories but this is pretty refreshing for me.

I love the idea of having a succubus heroine, so I totally expected some sexy scenes being a part of it, I was actually excited lols..but even though I'm cool with the idea of a succubus needing to have sex "a lot", having a lot of sex with different guys (too many different guys) didn't go well for me or maybe I'm just a little too conservative ><.

All in all, I can say that I liked the world building and the idea of the gifts but I wasn't able to connect with the characters.

My Review:

***I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

We are all guilty of doing things we're not supposed to do. Janus Rose, a computer genius knows that but doesn't know how and when to stop..why would she? if you we're given a chance to uncover anyone's secret and know him/her intimately through his/her hard drive..would you grab it? Well, Janus did..and that's when the fun and chaos started.

Janus, our girl is a kick-ass computer whiz, she's powerful with just a laptop and an internet connection. I totally want to be her :P she's a cool kid with great ideas, I loved how independent she is, she can totally solve her own problems and she's not a drama queen unlike most of the girls of her age.

I absolutely enjoyed reading Assured Destruction. It made me realize on a deeper level how the internet.. can be use as a weapon to destroy someone else life. How a small joke or a picture can be so destructing. All in All Assured Destruction is a book worth reading and recommending :)

Cobweb Bride by Vera Nazarian

Cobweb Bride (Cobweb Bride Trilogy, #1)
Cobweb Bride by Vera Nazarian
ebook, 293 pages

Expected publication: July 15th 2013 by Norilana Books

Book Summary:
Many are called...
She alone can save the world and become Death's bride.

COBWEB BRIDE (Cobweb Bride Trilogy, Book One) is a history-flavored fantasy novel with romantic elements of the Persephone myth, about Death's ultimatum to the world.

What if you killed someone and then fell in love with them?

In an alternate Renaissance world, somewhere in an imaginary "pocket" of Europe called the Kingdom of Lethe, Death comes, in the form of a grim Spaniard, to claim his Bride. Until she is found, in a single time-stopping moment all dying stops. There is no relief for the mortally wounded and the terminally ill....

Covered in white cobwebs of a thousand snow spiders she lies in the darkness... Her skin is cold as snow... Her eyes frozen... Her gaze, fiercely alive...

While kings and emperors send expeditions to search for a suitable Bride for Death, armies of the undead wage an endless war... A black knight roams the forest at the command of his undead father… Spiesand political treacheries abound at the imperial Silver Court....Murdered lovers find themselves locked in the realm of the living...

Look closer — through the cobweb filaments of her hair and along each strand shine stars...

And one small village girl, Percy—an unwanted, ungainly middle daughter—is faced with the responsibility of granting her dying grandmother the desperate release she needs.
As a result, Percy joins the crowds of other young women of the land in a desperate quest to Death's own mysterious holding in the deepest forests of the North...

And everyone is trying to stop her.

My Review:

Wow! This novel is wonderful and well-written. I enjoyed reading it and I can't stop thinking about it.

This novel started with different characters and their stories, confusing me at first
but later prove to be effective, because we are given a glimpse of each of the characters lives and personality, making it easier to feel connected with them. I keep on making my own assumptions on how the story will progress, but later on given up because it keeps on surprising me, I was really intrigue.. there was a story within a story and instead of feeling overwhelm I'm curious I wanted to know more, uncover all the secrets..especially Grial's secret's :P there is so much more to know about Grial and my speculations is giving me a headache.

The Characters. I can honestly say that I'm quite attached with the girls, not just with Percy which I've grown to like, more and more with every chapter...I didn't expect her to be so strong deep within..nobody expects her to, she was describe as dull-witted at first, which horrified me because how can a weak and dull-witted heroine will survive all the craziness that is happening in the book? but no! she demonstrate how strong she is by being a good leader, knowing and setting her priorities in order to keep her and her girls safe. Death, the bridegroom *sigh I wanted him for myself, I mean for Percy hahah but I don't want to expect :< I'm hoping for more of him in the next book.

Beltain, the black knight, he's fast becoming one of my favorite characters, he's fierce but we all know how good he is, just a little bit lost of what or whom to follow and can I say that I smell a love triangle here ohohoh :P but who knows?. Claere Liguon, I am excited on what will happen to her and Vlau, because the growing connection between the two of them cannot be denied, but with Claere's condition I'm afraid to hope. As for Duke Chidair, I wanted him dead, unable to move dead.(gahh I'm getting violent here :P)

Suggestions. I would love to see a map included in the book, the positions of the kingdom, towns etc. it will be great for my no sense of direction brain :D. And as for the cover, I'm not so sure if it will attract the younger readers, but that's just me.

So all in all I can honestly say that I loved it! The bloody details :D everything!
and I'm so looking forward for the second book :)

Will I recommend it? Yes! to the fantasy and blood loving readers, grab your own copy now at net galley :)

Strength (Mark of Nexus, #1) by Carrie Butler

 Book Summary:

When college student Rena Collins finds herself nose-to-chest with the campus outcast, her rumor-laced notions are shattered. Handsome, considerate, and seemingly sane, Wallace Blake doesn't look like he spends his nights alone, screaming and banging on the walls of his dorm room. Hell, he doesn’t look like he spends his nights alone, period.

Too curious for her own good, Rena vows to uncover the truth behind Wallace’s madman reputation--and how two seconds of contact had left her with bruises. Of course, there are a few setbacks along the way: guilt, admiration, feelings of the warm and fuzzy variety…

Not to mention the unwanted attention of Wallace's powerful, supernaturally-gifted family.

They’re a bloodline divided by opposing ideals, two soon-to-be warring factions that live in secret among us. When Rena ends up caught in their crossfire, Wallace has no choice but to save her by using his powers. Now they’re really in trouble. With war on the horizon and Rena’s life in the balance, he needs to put some distance between them. But Rena won’t let go. If fighting is what it takes to prove her own strength and keep Wallace in her life, then that’s what she’ll do--even if it means risking a whole lot more than her heart.

Let me start by expressing how grateful I am for having the chance to read Strength for free~ which by the way is totally worth buying! After reading Strength I was like~

Strength is a very fun, refreshing, enjoyable read. I feel so good while and after reading it. I am definitely adding it in my to-re-read and favorites bookshelves.

No dull moments! Rena Collins is one hilarious heroine, I loved her!!

I ended bitching out the whole class. That was the week my professor suggested I try independent studies.

it's the only socially acceptable way to indulge in my love of hitting things. Not that I should admit that.

I really liked Wallace ~ he's every woman's dream..HOT.GOOD and sometimes aloof..makes you all want him more nyahaha

but surprisingly I love Rena more than Wallace. I love how strong-willed she is, she makes me laugh even in the most panic-filled situation...gawd I love the way she thinks :) but let's not forget the equally hot twin~ Cole, the lovable jerk...I want someone for him too..perhaps me?

I loved how this first book ended..not a cliffhanger that will make us all cray cray but enough to be excited..sooo excited for the next book..I'm totally ready to read the second book like..now?

I'm giving Strength 6/5 stars. It made me so happy I'm puking rainbows and unicorn right now.

 Will I recommend it? Absolutely.

Thoughtless by by S.C. Stephens

 ** spoiler alert **

Where do I begin?... gawd this book drained me like no other book.

Thoughtless has been on my TBR list the moment it was published, my online friends got nothing but positive reviews about it so I was excited to read it but was discourage by the "cheating" that I've read in a review, is part of the story and then the 3rd book was not yet out and as much as I can I try to avoid incomplete series, since I'll probably go cray cray if I encounter another cliffhanger (cliffhanger is totally not advisable with my not so healthy mental state :P) but alas I can no longer contain the urge to go and read Thoughtless, so started reading it and damn.. now I know the reason behind Kellan's adoring fans club and group over twitter and other book blog's that I visited..

so enough of my twittering here's what I thought about Thoughtless: :P I both hate and love Keira..so okay I hate her more than I love her (who am I kidding *smirk*) her actions make me want to pull all her hair out .Kellan's right, she's a tease and I'm having a hard time understanding her and her actions :< .I know that it's not that easy to choose, but her trying to keep them both is driving me mad and making me hate her, that is so selfish...and while "deciding" she keeps on sleeping with both of them O.O..(I'm such a prude..I know but gahhh) and she keeps on asking Kellan things that Kellan won't be able to refuse (my poor kellan :<)
and Kellan...my poor baby LOL.I do love him..really. :DD

favorite scene:   "Then he shrugged and standing up, slipped the shirt off. I openly gaped at him as he flipped it right side out and slipped it over me. I couldn't even speak"

So all in all..I do..absolutely loved Thoughtless :D and somehow I know this is one of those books that will definetely stays with me..I'll be adding this in my re-read bookshelf :D

Date I finished this book: 2/28/13

Book Review: Stay by Jennifer Silverwood

Stay by Jennifer Silverwood

Summary:

Sometimes, love isn’t as magical as people expect it to be…

Rona believes love is nothing more than a myth, a tale for little girls. As the oldest daughter, she knows duty and family honor as well as the difference between salt and cinnamon.

Until the immortal ruler of the seas appears from thin air and she is swept into a dark and dangerous affair. What was formerly myth soon becomes part of the everyday. And Rona believes when Seid tells her they will be together forever.

But forever is a long time and after she betrays him, what was supposed to be an eternity in paradise becomes an eternity in hell. Now she is cursed, unable to feel human emotions except through the couples she is led to save.

Two thousand years is an awfully long time to live alone. And the business of love saving isn’t what it used to be. By the twenty-first century, love has become an illusion as grandiose as magic and Rona’s ready to give up. Until the night she is seen by a human. Deep in the underbelly of the city that never sleeps, she recognizes him instantly. He may dress differently and have gained a few new scars, but she would recognize the face of her former lover in any lifetime.

Trouble is, he seems to have no memory of her and he and his ex-girlfriend are the ones whose true love she’s meant to save.
But when he starts to fall for her, she is forced to learn what it means to be human all over again.

Past and present come full circle in this tale of love, forgiveness and woe.

*I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

My Review:

What to do when the only man you ever love cursed you then forget you? ~You fall in love again...with him??  I'm pretty sure I've never read a book like Stay before. Stay is different from what I imagine it will be, the story is original and will keep you guessing till the end which is very refreshing. Stay is a tale of discovery...on how far can we give and let go? We all know how much easier it is to prioritize our own happiness, but can we really be happy knowing that our very own happiness is someone's pain and loss?

The story is about Orona, an Immortal who was cursed to guide couples achieve their HEA, knowing that Orona won't be having her own...and fate proves to be a bitch because the guy that she was supposed to help wore the face of her former lover. I enjoyed reading Stay, it teaches us lessons about life and love, and that we should forgive in order to be fully happy.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars.

Will I recommend it? Yes.

How Not to be Seduced by Billionaires Series by Marian Tee

Book 1 (Chased) Summary :

My name is Yanna Everleigh. I used to think that being an old-fashioned virgin would be enough to keep gorgeous, sexy billionaires away - well, at least the kind who didn't do love at least. But I was wrong. If anything, it simply made my billionaire want me even more.

His name is Constantijin Kastein. He blows hot and cold, arrogant and cynical one moment and then disarmingly sweet the next. He makes me forget all about waiting for true love and just go for mind-blowingly hot sex. But he's also Netherlands' #1 playboy, and I'm my own worst enemy. I must be on my guard.

Maybe if I play hard to get and pretend that my heart doesn't beat madly every time I see him - pretend that my body doesn't go weak when he's close - maybe he'll finally stop trying to seduce me.

My Review for Chased, Courted and Caged:

Read all three books in one sitting, so this review is for all three~ When I say that I read all three in one sitting, what I actually did is devoured it~

I love the character's dialogue...those funny lines, those sexy and funny lines but gawd some lines are too hot even for me lol, I would love to quote some lines but I'm afraid they'll leave me and you blushing.
All in all , I can honestly say that I enjoyed it , and will be reading it again in the near future when I feel like reading a funny and smexy book.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars.

Will I recommend it? Yes. especially to Crossfire Series/Up in the Air Series fans.

Stitch (Stitch Trilogy #1) by Samantha Durante

 * I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Summary:

Her heart races, her muscles coil, and every impulse in Alessa's body screams at her to run... but yet she's powerless to move.

Still struggling to find her footing after the sudden death of her parents, the last thing college freshman Alessa has the strength to deal with is the inexplicable visceral pull drawing her to a handsome ghostly presence. In between grappling with exams and sorority soirees - and disturbing recurring dreams of being captive in a futuristic prison hell - Alessa is determined to unravel the mystery of the apparition who leaves her breathless. But the terrifying secret she uncovers will find her groping desperately through her nightmares for answers.

Because what Alessa hasn't figured out yet is that she's not really a student, the object of her obsession is no ghost, and her sneaking suspicions that something sinister is lurking behind the walls of her university's idyllic campus are only just scratching the surface...

The opening installment in a twist-laden trilogy, Stitch spans the genres of paranormal romance and dystopian sci-fi to explore the challenges of a society in transition, where morality, vision, and pragmatism collide leaving the average citizen to suffer the results.

My Review:

Stitch started pretty normal..like a YA romance novel, with a normal main character Alessa living a normal college life~ and then the story became intriguingly mysterious, and then confusing...
and just when I thought I got everything (somehow) figured out , I was proven wrong~ everything is not what it seems to be.

that's when everything started to be exciting..the discovery of what really happens in the past, what is really happening, and the suspense of waiting for what will happen..made me scared and excited at the same time.

All in all I totally recommend Stitch to all Dystopian readers, I do really enjoyed it, Stitch is a very original and refreshing read that will truly surprise you, I am so ready for the book 2!! :)
