Bone Deep by Bonnie Dee

Bone DeepBone Deep by Bonnie Dee

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Summary:
In the fall of 1946, grieving war widow Sarah goes to the carnival with her friends and is riveted by the tattooed man in the freak show, sporting head to toe body art. Later she discovers him hiding in her hayloft, escaped from virtual imprisonment since childhood by the carnival's evil owner. She shelters him on her farm, fighting a powerful sexual attraction while learning about his mysterious past and gentle nature. When a local child goes missing, Tom uses his psychic gifts to locate her, but his assistance in the case doesn't allay the town's mistrust of such an exotic stranger in their midst. Small-town prejudice tears the lovers apart and a very real threat from carnival owner Art Reed endangers them. Can they rise above obstacles of fear and hate to create the family both have always craved?

My Review:

"Skin is skin, Grace. The tattoos are only on the surface, you know. He's a man." A sexy, vulnerable, intense, attractive, sweet, gentle and loving man."

This a story about understanding, accepting, and loving someone despite of his/her imperfections..

Sara, our girl here..is a lovely woman, inside and out..I cannot express how awesome she is, not minding what other people think ..she did what she wants..and that's to love a broken , abhorred for how he looks.. but is a sweet and gentle man inside. I adore her for not being judgemental and doing what she think is right in-spite of the people telling her to do the opposite and risking her own reputation.

Tom, an abused, broken and tattooed-covered man against his will..is a sweet and gentle man once you get to know him, it pains me to know that he himself thinks that he doesn't deserve any good in his life and no one can truly accept him for how he looks.

I did enjoy reading this story, and it reminded me that..a beauty from within is what truly matters and that in order to be happy one must be strong enough to ignore what other people might think and say..it's those people who care that understands you.

Leo: Leo 1 by Mia Sheridan

Leo: Leo 1 (Sign of Love, #1)Leo: Leo 1 by Mia Sheridan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Book Summary:
Evie and Leo met in foster care as children and formed a bond of friendship. As they grew, their bond turned to love, and they vowed to make a life together when they turned 18 and were no longer a part of the system.

When Leo unexpectedly gets adopted as a teen and he moves to another city, he promises Evie that he will contact her as soon as he gets there and come back for her in a few short years. She never hears from him again.

Now eight years later, in spite of the odds, Evie has made a life for herself. She has a job. She has friends. She's content. Then a man shows up out of the blue, claiming that her long lost love, Leo, sent him to check up on her. The attraction between them is undeniable. But, should she trust this sexy stranger? Or is he keeping a secret about what his connection to Leo is really all about and why Leo disappeared all those years ago?

New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

My Thoughts:

I'm grateful that I've seen this book in my goodreads updates and decided to read it asap, this book is wonderful not only because it does have a good story but because it teaches life values that we do know but most of the time forget or take for granted.

Evie, I do love her..and honestly ..wishes to somehow adapt her point of view in life, she experience lots of painful things in life but instead of being bitter and mean..it made her stronger and appreciate simple joys in life. Most of us here have a decent job, a nice home and a bed where we can sleep but we're still sad and feel that life doesn't go our way and we deserve more (dramatics aren't we?) but our Evie here feels blessed with just having a bed to sleep and a job that will feed her.

Jake, our poor hunky jake did what he did in order to get the girl he truly wanted and I couldn't blame him..me wants my own jake *blush

Relationship between Evie and Jake started a little too fast for me but I can't blame them..why waste time? :P SO anyways what I'm trying to say is if you haven't read this yet..READ.THIS.NOW.

I'm excited to read more books by this author.

Courage (Mark of Nexus, #2)

Courage (Mark of Nexus, #2)Courage by Carrie Butler

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I'm really grateful for having the opportunity to read this one asap, I did really love the first and I'm seriously excited to know what happens next with one of my favorite couple.

So here it is, unlike the first book which is Strength, Courage is far more serious, we get to learn a lot of crazy stuff..Wallace's family history and ERA's cray cray plans ..etc. Our couple here, Rena and Wallace-baby is dealing with lots of things at the same time..I was kind of scared that the problems will tear them apart but hey it's Rena and Wallace right? need I say more?

Even though Courage is action-packed..

I'm glad that we still get to experience the funny dialogues that I fell in love with in the first book. I also loved the fact that the problems Rena and Wallace encounter doesn't turn them into whinny-dramatic-I'm-so-poor type of characters instead it made them stronger.

All in all ...I loved it! and I'm freaking excited to read the 3rd book, aside from the story itself I can't wait to see the 3rd book's cover..the cover keeps on getting better!!! So yeah to the fantasy-paranormal loving readers out there..please check Carrie Butler's Mark of Nexus series.

Wind and Shadow

Wind and Shadow (The Talbot Trilogy, Book 1)Wind and Shadow by Tori L. Ridgewood
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Fantasy books will always have a special place in my heart, I always love to imagine a different world from what we have ...a magical world ..where magical creatures exist so when I was ask to read and review Wind and Shadow, I was excited! and maybe my expectations was a little too high.

I did love that most of may favorite paranormal elements are present here.. MAGIC, VAMPIRES and WITCHCRAFT!!..how awesome is that?

I did love the sizzling chemistry between the two main characters, and that our girl..Rayvin is a strong-willed woman who fought hard in able to withstand all the difficulties that goes her way ..but in the last few chapters I was like WTF?! with her..decisions are hastily made which made me gave this 3 stars instead of 4..but then this is just the beginning of a very promising book so I still do recommend this for all fantasy loving book worms out there.

Wallace Blake has always known his girlfriend is unlike most girls. But now that information has surfaced regarding the two bloodlines that balance his supernatural race, he finally understands why. Rena belongs to one of them. She’s been augmenting his power, all along...
Enter: Corynn Catley. Brought into the country under the guise of an internship, she’s intended to become ERA’s secret weapon. Kind of. Her abilities cancel out Wallace’s, rendering him powerless, but that’s exactly what he’s always wanted. Too bad it only works when his girlfriend’s not around.
All the while, Rena fails to notice the crush her geeky best friend, Aiden Ross, is nursing. He’d give anything for her to see him in a new light—even reinvent himself through questionable means—but there’s a reason people are told to be careful what they wish for. My Review:

Is Falling for the Backup good?

Better than what I expected. Imagine my excitement when I've read the email confirming that I can now read and review this awesome book..gah!! Thank so much Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept, I fell in love with Toni Aleo's book, Taking Shots and became a fan of her right after devouring and finishing that fantastic book..so anyways here's my review:

Falling for the Backup is shorter than the first three but definitely as good as them. Jordan as expected of Toni Aleo's hero..is dreamy and a total hottie, it's really hard not love him :< lol..I want my own Jordan!! Aynslee, our main girl here is a lovely redhead, I loved it that she's a redhead and that she's not shy to pursue Jordan, I just wish I could be like her..confident enough to make Jordan realize how awesome she is :D.

Favorite line: "You're not her normal type. She usually goes for fairy looking guys." - Bowie
as always Toni Aleo never fails to make me laugh, I always love the humor that is always present in her books. The Cover, err it's hot and all but I don't think I can read a paperback copy with that cover, in public lol.

I got this copy via net galley, again.. Thank you so much! Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept for giving me the chance to read and review it. Will be doing a Full review of  Empty Net and Taking Shot book 1 and 3 soon.

Book Review: The Sparrow and the Hawk (Tales of the Sparrow)

The Sparrow and the Hawk (Tales of the Sparrow)The Sparrow and the Hawk by Meg Lacey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book Summary:

Jillie Harte, code name the Sparrow, a documentary film maker is an agent for the NAS (Normal, Abnormal, Strange) Agency. Her assignment-find The Carmaletta Choker before it falls into the wrong hands and destroys the world. Franklin Doherty and associates are suspected of having the choker, and they are definitely the wrong hands! To get close to Franklin, Jillie is producing a film on "Decoration, Fashion and Accessories Throughout History," featuring his antique collection. Her assignment is complicated by Griff Ryland, her new, hot cameraman, who is also looking for the necklace. Griff is an enigma. Is he friend or foe? And why is she so distracted by his "pure sex on a stick" appeal? Like the Sparrow, Griff, aka the Hawk, needs to retrieve the choker. It disappeared from his dimension years before, and his job is to bring it back. Since he can shapeshift into a hawk or a mountain lion at a moment's notice, Griff feels certain of success. But he doesn't bargain for a sassy, sexy redhead-and for his overwhelming urge to settle their differences in bed. Now Griff and Jillie must not only overcome the deadly dark forces who want the choker, but they must also face their developing relationship. And they thought saving the world from evil and chaos was hard!!!!

My Thoughts:

I find the cover awkward(I'm restraining myself from saying more ugh hahah), if I haven't read the summary..I'm not sure if I'm going to read this at all lol, don't judge the book by it's cover applies here because I seriously enjoyed and loved reading The Sparrow and the Hawk regardless of my hate for the cover. The book is magical in a dark and twisted way. The characters are all kinds of mysterious and very unpredictable, they all carry big secrets from one another.

I loved both Jillie and Griff's character and their amazing...or let say sizzling chemistry. But I also love the fact that the story doesn't revolve around them, in other words..there is a love story in here, but we also experience more action and disturbing incidents..and creepy situations...gah those creepy situation are so detailed, my imaginations are running wild.

Aside from our main characters, we also have amazing secondary characters which reminds me of some "Alice in the Wonderland" characters, mysterious and dangerously mischievous...which I definitely liked! specially Franklin, he's err scary, creepy and funny at the same time..and his house, gah! If I happen to visit that freaking house and experience what Jillie experience I'll run as fast as I can far (very far) away from that hunted place.

Overall, I can say that I enjoyed and loved reading The Sparrow and the Hawk, and was sad when I reach the last page, looking forward to reading the second book!

Book Review: Remember When by T. Torrest

Remember When (Remember Trilogy, #1)Remember When by T. Torrest
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After reading this, I realized that this is the type of book that will stay with you, that will make you feel nostalgic, that will make you miss those people you meet in the past, making you wonder "How is she/he?" and does that person somehow..still remembers you?

Book Summary:

Years before Trip Wiley could be seen on movie screens all over the world, he could be seen sitting in the desk behind me in my high school English class.

This was back in 1990, and I cite the year only to avoid dumbfounding you when references to big hair or stretch pants are mentioned. Although, come to think of it, I am from New Jersey, which may serve as explanation enough. We were teenagers then, way back in a time before anyone could even dream he’d turn into the Hollywood commodity that he is today.

In case you live under a rock and don't know who Trip Wiley is, just know that these days, he’s the actor found at the top of every casting director’s wish list. He’s incredibly talented and insanely gorgeous, the combination of which has made him very rich, very famous and very desirable.

And not just to casting directors, either.

I can’t confirm any of the gossip from his early years out in Tinseltown, but based on what I knew of his life before he was famous, I can tell you that the idea of Girls-Throwing-Themselves-At-Trip is not a new concept.

I should know. I was one of them.

And my life hasn’t been the same since.

My Thoughts:

The book started nice and slow, which is very effective in terms of making the reader feel connected to each and every character, I personally felt that somehow..I'm one of them, part of the group. I can't help but be reminded of a certain friend of mine with one of the character, I personally believe that each character in the book represents one or two of our former classmate or friends, we all got one loud friend, the joker, the flirt or the queen bee, so while reading this I can't help but remember my own personal highschool experience :P.

And I do adore Layla, I can honestly relate to her, the crush she felt for Trip, those stolen glances~ :D

and I do love and envy the friendship between Layla and Lisa♥
and let's not forget how dreamy Trip is :D

When I saw this book for the first time and read the summary, I thought this is a typical story about second chance at love---but No!, it's more than that, it felt real and I can honestly say that my day ended fantastic because of this wonderful book ♥

I'm soooo excited for book 2 (which will be out this coming June 20)~ my mind can't help but imagine all the possibilities~♥

All in all, I'm giving this more than 5 stars ♥

Something Darker (Inferi Dii, #1)Something Darker by S.A.Price
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book Summary:

The one thing Syrus Alcot, the God of Death Osiris in the Egyptian Pantheon, wants in all the worlds is the woman he loved and lost returned to him. When he gave up his powers, and freedom for a life of service he was promised her return. That was over one thousand years ago. A member of a team of dark gods charged with keeping humanity safe, he leads a loveless existence in New York City, searching for the one thing that could bring his wife back to him, a lapis scarab that was lost to him ages before.

Gwen Stapleton, a mild mannered librarian, is unaware that she holds the key to not only Syrus’ happiness, but her own. Seemingly stuck in a hopeless relationship with a man she doesn’t love, she has no idea that a chance meeting in Alphabet City will start a landslide to her heart’s content. Because Gwen is the keeper of the scarab, and is everything Syrus has ever wanted… and hes not the only one.

An Ancient evil is waking, and its servants will stop at nothing to see it seize its rightful place as the new pantheon of earth. And in order for Syrus and his team to save the world, Gwen is going to have to accept him, and show that love does make all the difference.

My Review:

I'm kind of obsessed with Gods/Goddesses stories..especially the dark gods, most of them are hot reads that includes hot, sexy and yummy Gods..and this is definitely one of those.

Something Darker is a fantastic start of the Inferi Dii Series..we get to have Syrus, a sexier than hell god..with equally sexy bunch of gods as friends..how awesome is that? I'm not even upset with him having a harem just before Gwen, if a were given a chance to be part of that harem..I would say..oh god..Yes! please..lol

Gwen, our heroine..at first is a weak with a very low self-confidence woman, who thinks that she deserve and is being grateful for having the good for nothing boyfriend..I'm actually happy when that boyfriend..now ex met an not-so-unfortunate-accident. I loved that we get to witness how Gwen becomes stronger and confident as the story progresses..well, if you have a hottie god by your side won't that make you feel awesomely beautiful too?

Something Darker is an awesome and sexy read, I'm looking forward to reading the other gods story..they are all mysterious and sexy..I want to uncover all of them...*coughs their past and secrets.

Book Review: Outcast by Adrienne Kress

OutcastOutcast by Adrienne Kress

ebook, 283 pages
Published June 4th 2013 by Diversion Books
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Book Summary:

After six years of “angels” coming out of the sky and taking people from her town, 16-year-old Riley Carver has just about had it living with the constant fear. When one decides to terrorize her in her own backyard, it’s the final straw. She takes her mother’s shotgun and shoots the thing. So it’s dead. Or … not? In place of the creature she shot, is a guy. A really hot guy. A really hot alive and breathing guy. Oh, and he’s totally naked.

Not sure what to do, she drags his unconscious body to the tool shed and ties him up. After all, he’s an angel and they have tricks. When he regains consciousness she’s all set to interrogate him about why the angels come to her town, and how to get back her best friend (and almost boyfriend) Chris, who was taken the year before. But it turns out the naked guy in her shed is just as confused about everything as she is.

He thinks it’s 1956.

Set in the deep south, OUTCAST is a story of love, trust, and coming of age. It’s also a story about the supernatural, a girl with a strange sense of humor who’s got wicked aim, a greaser from the 50’s, and an army of misfits coming together for one purpose: To kick some serious angel ass.

My Review:

When I read the " A really hot guy. A really hot alive and breathing guy. Oh, and he’s totally naked." part in the book summary..I knew right there and then that I have to read this haha..did I just sound like total pervert? to say that I enjoyed reading Outcast would be an understatement. I freaking loved it from the first chapter to the last.

Outcast is pretty different from the previous angel-theme books I've read in the past, I mean.. the heroine didn't always shoot some angel guy..only to find him naked, then bound and gagged him right? I totally loved Riley for doing that! seriously..this is why I love reading books..you get to read some crazy things.

I loved Gabe, the naked angel guy whom Riley bound then gagged..(I'm kind of obsessed with that part :P..kinky!) I loved that the two of them didn't have this insta-love..it was nice to see their uhm captor-captive relationship blossoming to friendship then to something else.

Outcast is a very fun and intriguing read, I'm excited for more of Gabe and Riley..I don't know what to expect next with the way things ended in this book..but I'm pretty positive that the second book will be as good if not better than the first.

I highly recommend this to Paranormal-(naked)Angel loving readers. :D

Once Upon A TwistOnce Upon A Twist

Aimée Duffy and  Michelle Smart

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book Summary:

When the sun goes down, guess what's coming out to play... ?

Once upon a time in a land far, far away, the creatures are coming...

In a land run by misogynists, where fair maidens are deemed liable to fall in a dead faint at the sight of blood, Prince Charming is worried – the creatures that have destroyed their neighboring kingdoms are coming for them. He judges it imperative to get all the females to safety, but first he needs to break the enchantment enslaving his One True Love to her hateful home. Oh, and there’s the small matter of the Ball to get through too.

But when the creatures reach them ahead of their expected time, all plans are foregone. Can Ella break her wicked stepmother’s enchantment? Can she save her handsome Prince and the kingdom before midnight strikes? And can she show his soldiers what it really means to kick a monster’s butt? The clock is ticking…

Many, many years later…

When Ruby visits her grandmother in the deep, dark forest, she stumbles into a nightmare. Her grandma’s been attacked by a wolf-like creature, and an ancient disease that turned people into monsters is back… and so is the cold-hearted ex she walked out on a year ago.

Now she has to either accept Jeremy’s help or face becoming a monster herself. Fighting alongside the man she once loved isn’t easy, especially when she discovers there’s more to Jeremy than the cheating bastard she took him for.

As they fight to survive the disease and save those they love, can they keep from falling for each other all over again?

I grew up loving and adoring Disney Princesses stories...
and I think my love for reading started with fairy tale books which resulted my love for HEA stories up to now..so imagine my delight when I was given the chance to read Once Upon A Twist, Kick-ass Cinderella and Red Riding Hood version? count me in!

_________________________________

When the first story which is the Glass Slippers and Combat Boots started with "Once upon a time in a land far, far away, the creatures are coming..." I knew right then that I am going to enjoy reading it..and I wasn't disappointed.

Our heroine, new and improve Cinderella is definitely not a martyr, nope..she was force to servitude only because her Stepmother placed her under an enchantment that prevents her from leaving. I loved this version of Cinderella, she's a fighter and refuse to be treated as a weak girl. And the Prince Charming is a handsome, charming, witty and fierce warrior hottie guy..I loved that we actually get to know him better in this version and see him fight..he is more than a pretty face here..I am seriously crushing on him!

Overall, I can say that I am loving this version of Cinderella, we got to know more of Cinderella and the Prince ..and lets not forget the Queen! I liked her... plus I loved that some other fairy tale characters were mention here..like Goldilocks and the bears... sleeping beauty..it brings back this good old feeling of knowing this characters..we grew up loving this characters and it's nice to be reminded of this characters again.

________________________________

In Reunited with Red, we meet a hotter and sexier version of the woodcutter...yum! lols and uhm ofcourse Red Riding Hood's older version, she's all grown up here..and she's hurt and mad.

The story started just like the children's version..Red's visiting her sick grandmother and then finding a wolf..that's where the similarities ended and story takes a darker twist.

I love the chemistry between Red and Jeremy here, enjoying that Red hated herself for finding Jeremy attractive even after all the years she spent hating him..well, no one's blaming her. I loved that Jeremy's all protective with Red and that even though he tries hard to stay away from her..he's feeling eventually won..and we get to witness their hot and sweaty reunion lol.

I enjoyed reading both stories..it brings back the good old memories of being just a little girl and finding happiness with fairy tale stories..I'm glad we get to have this adult version story of Cinderella and Red Riding Hood. I'm giving this 4 awesome stars.

Deeper We Fall (Fall and Rise, #1)

Deeper We Fall by Chelsea M. Cameron

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Two years after her best friend was involved in a car accident that caused a traumatic brain injury, Lottie Anders is ready to start her freshman year of college. Ready to move on. Ready to start forgetting the night that ripped her life apart.

Her plans come to a screeching halt when not one, but both brothers responsible for the accident end up back in her life again.

Zack is cruel, selfish and constantly rubbing what happened to her friend in Lottie's face.

Zan is different. He listens to her awkward ramblings. He loves "To Kill a Mockingbird" as much as she does, and his dark eyes are irresistible. His words are few and far between, but when he does speak, she can't help but listen.

The trouble is, Zan was the driver in the accident, and now Lottie's discovered he lied to her about what happened that night. Now she must decide if trusting him again will lead to real forgiveness, or deeper heartache.

**I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review**

"Someday things might fall into place and you'll realize it was supposed to happen"

Sometimes bad things happens and all we can see are the negative effect it brings, but with bad comes good..we just need to look closer..there are lessons we only learn when we are in a bad situation.

I struggled reading the first half of the book because it's full of angst and drama, it revolves around Lottie's hate for both Zack and Zan, Will and Simon being supportive brother and friend. I can't bring myself to like Lottie during the first half because I feel that she's being mean with Zan, Yes.. it is irresponsible of Zan to get into the car drunk (People..Please do not drink then drive!!) ..but lets not forget that it's Lexie's decision to stay with Zack..leading to Zan drunk driving them..so what I am trying to say is that ..it was an accident (I bet I would say differently if it happens to my friend ). I totally get why she's being like that.. but I can't help myself wanting to scream at her to move on (easier said than done..why am I contradicting myself..><)

Why Lottie irritates me during the first half:

Lottie to Zan :"Why am I even talking to you? I hate you"

Lottie to Zan : "You don't talk to much"

Well duh, I won't be talking much too if you treat me like that.

Contrary to me not liking Lottie..I do like Zan..really, really like him. He's been through a lot of things and I keep on wishing that he'll eventually find happiness in the end, I badly wanted to be a book character then I'll befriend him..and yeah eventually falls for him..no more Lottie and Zan..it'll be me and Zan forever...lol. I think I just sounded creepier than usual.

The good thing is I find myself liking Lottie around 60% of the book and thankfully till the end, I loved that everything turns out to be okay for both Lottie and Zan in the end plus they got wonderful friends that cares for them.

The Second Sign is a dark and mysterious paranormal book. I loved loved the dark and bloody details, it makes the story creepier and effective..I'm kind of used to reading the dark parts in other horror/mystery books but not actually feeling it..in The Second Sign, I can't help but imagine them vividly.

I was edgy while reading this, I think I'm as paranoid as Gabby..I'm kind of suspicious to almost every characters in the story even to Max, Gabby's brother..and at times I'm even scared to continue reading because a lot of creepy and strange things keeps on happening or appearing.

This book is about Angels and Demons...and other creepy creatures lol, it's intriguing and confusing at times...I have lots of whats and whys.. that I think and hopefully will be answered in the next book. I was devastated with what happens towards the end, the decision Gabby made is hard but she was given no choice and it broke my heart, but with what happens comes a "gift" and I'm excited on how that gift will play part on the next book.

I enjoyed reading The Second Sign and I'm excited for the second book, hopefully..it will be darker than the first.

Otherborn series is my newest favorite dystopian series!yay!

Honestly I did have a hard time reading this book at first but after a couple of chapter, I can say that I was hooked!

This is definitely a dystopian with a twist..even though it does have the familiar elements we all find in other dystopian series, it manages to be unique and exciting. The story keeps on getting better as the story progresses, surprise after surprise...you won't really know what will happens next.

London, the main character in the story is a streetwise girl that appears to be strong outside but vulnerable inside, it's not hard to connect with her..with her wanting to appear strong in front of her friends, giving them hope and guidance..I find myself liking her and hating Tori when she appears to be a competition.. back-off girl! lol. Rye, London's I'm-not-so-sure-boyfriend is a very likable guy because he seems to be really protective of London, I love how he protects London in anyway he can and hopefully..we'll see more of London and Rye's moments in the next book.

Otherborn is an awesome dystopian book and I'm so ready to read the next one. I'm so excited about the "Others", there is so much we need to know about them and how and when they will help London and friends.

I want to give this 5 awesome stars but since they way it ended kills me..I'm only giving it 4.9.

I've been busy reading lots of new adult and adult genre books for the past few months, I forgot how refreshing and fun it is to read a Y.A book. I immensely enjoyed reading Runes, it brings out the girly girl in me lol. The moment Raine met Torin *swoon, I knew that I'm going to absolutely add Torin to my book boyfriends list, gawd I don't even care about Eirik lol, team Torin all the way..if and if there is even a competition.

Torin was the new guy next door, and oh! what a guy-next-door he is, I am totally wishing I am Raine..so yeah, the new guy next door story is not really original but the author manage to make it awesome. I was constanly excited while reading Runes, Torin and the weird trio were all mysterious, there is so much to discover about the Runes and Raine's birth but more than that I keep on looking forward for Torin and Raine's moment(and damn, those moments are pretty hot).

I was surprise about how the book ended, it was totally unexpected.. even the answers about Torin's Identity is not what I expected. And now I'm dying to know what happens next..gahh I am so ready for the next book!

I loved loved this book and it kills me to know that it will be a pretty long wait for the next book in the series, but I know that it'll be worth the wait.

I think the Lux series and daemon fans will love this book.

Arouse by Nina Lane

Arouse (Spiral of Bliss, #1)
Arouse by Nina Lane

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Goodreads Book Summary:

"One day I'm going to touch you in a thousand different ways and show you how to touch me," he said.

And he did.

Struggling with a tormented past, undergraduate Olivia Winter once led a practical but isolated life. Then she met Professor Dean West, a brilliant scholar of medieval history who melted Liv's inhibitions and taught her the meaning of both love and erotic pleasure. But after three years of a blissful, lusty marriage, Liv and Dean now face a crisis that threatens everything they believe about each other...and sex might not be enough to save them.

My Thoughts:

When I saw Arouse being added by some of my goodreads friends, I decided to check it out, mostly because the title is intriguing, one will certainly think that it will be one HOT read. Arouse is definitely one hot read, but more ..you see there are lots of erotic reads that contains a lot of hot scenes but remove those scourching hot scenes and it's nothing. Arouse, more than being an erotic book is a book that teaches lessons about marriage and how and what will it takes to make it work. I found myself trying to absorb those lessons.. being 23 and single, it's kind of hard for me to think about marriage right now, but I think what the couple in this book experience and learned will stay with me and hopefully when the time comes, I can apply those to my own.

I think this is the first book I've read starting with a couple which is already married, so I'm not really sure what to expect but I'm glad, so glad I gave it a chance because after reading this I know for sure that it's going to be in my favorites book list. The story, the character ,their problems, and the people around them felt real..I find myself feeling easily connected with the main characters, especially with Liv.

My favorite line in the book is "I’ll slay monsters for you.”, you'll understand why when you read the book yourself. So what I'm trying to say is I loved and enjoyed this book and I'm definitely going to recommend this to all the romance-loving-readers out there. I'm giving this 4.8 stars. I'm so excited for the next book in this series which is Allure, whoch according to goodreads..will be coming out..TODAY! hooray for that.

Sworn to Raise (Courtlight #1)Sworn to Raise by Terah Edun

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book Summary:

Seventeen-year-old Ciardis has grown up in poverty, a cleaner in a small vale on the outskirts of the kingdom. But beneath her kingdom’s seemingly idyllic surface lies a hidden secret. Whispers of an inept crown Prince are growing ever louder—intensified by the five year anniversary of the soulbond initiations.

Amidst scandalous whispers, Ciardis finds herself chosen to train for the Companion’s Guild. She leaves her home and sets off on a personal journey to become a Court Companion. A position she’d never thought possible for a lowly servant to obtain, she must prove that she has the skills to attract a Patron.

But she must master those skills quickly. If the legends are true, only Ciardis can harness the power to raise a Prince in an Imperial Court sworn to bring him down.

***I requested and received a free copy of this book via NetGalley.

I'm always fascinated with stories about "companions", like Memoirs of a Geisha or stories about Kisaeng (korean geisha) because back in the days, those companions are not just companions, they are bunch of talented ladies who spend a lot of time mastering the art of entertaining, they are known for their exceptional skills in dancing, acting, playing various instruments and more. If the a certain companion manage to become a high ranking and most coveted companion, they become powerful in the sense that they can influence their "patrons" and most of that patrons are actually the most powerful men in their country.

Sworn to Raise tells the story of Ciardis, a girl who grow up in poverty but was given the chance to become a companion, if she'll manage to prove her worth. But being a companion is not just learning how to dance and recite poetry, in their world i'ts more..it's about possessing a different type of skill which is magic.

Ciardis is a character that is not hard to like and understand, she's not some soft kind of heroine, contrary to that..although naive she's streetwise and thank goodness far from being an annoying-dramatic-type-of-heroine, instead of complaining when facing hard situation she takes action.

In a way Sworn to Raise reminds me of one of my favorite fantasy series which is the Study series, hopefully Ciadris will became stronger just like Yelena.

All in all I can say that I absolutely enjoy reading Sworn to Raise, I love the world building and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the Series.

Experiment in Terror series by Karina Halle

Experiment in Terror series by Karina Halle

My Rating: 8 out 5 Freaking-Creepy Stars.

***I'll be doing a review of Book 1 to 6 in one post, but I'll try to avoid including major spoilers.

Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror, #1)
Red Fox (Experiment in Terror, #2)
The Benson (Experiment in Terror, #2.5)
Dead Sky Morning (Experiment in Terror, #3)
Lying Season (Experiment in Terror, #4)
On Demon Wings (Experiment in Terror, #5)
Old Blood (Experiment in Terror, #5.5)
The Dex-Files (Experiment in Terror, #5.7)
Into the Hollow (Experiment in Terror, #6)
And With Madness Comes the Light (Experiment in Terror, #6.5)

I just finish reading book one to six excluding 5.7 and 6.5, I'm not planning to read those two anytime soon( but knowing me I might change my mind and read those two over the weekend). I badly wanted to start reading a new book without horror or suspense theme in it since reading this series made me all kinds of paranoid lol. I wasn't even planning to read this series yet, but I keep on seeing Darkhouse on my goodreads update wall, and upon checking I saw high ratings and decided to read the first book, and the second, and the third until I find myself reading "Into the Hollow" which is the last main book available of the series( Book seven will be out next month..I think)..yeah, so much of me planning to read just the first book, who am I kidding? So here's the not-so-summary of "Darkhouse" from the Goodreads:

With all the vampire, werewolf and faerie books out there, it's easy to become numb to all things supernatural. The antidote? Darkhouse introduces two real and unforgettable characters, Perry Palomino & Dex Foray, amateur ghost hunters who are "attractive, relatable and oddly heroic," "flawed but loveable," "slightly crazy" and just the most endearing pair to ever tackle the paranormal...just don't call them normal.

Darkhouse is a thrilling and sexy new take on concepts like Supernatural and The X-Files, bringing a breath of fresh air to a genre that has been inundated with the dead.***Darkhouse and the Experiment in Terror series is a horror/romance for mature audiences only. Readers who are easily offended by harsh language should think twice about reading it.***

My Thoughts:

When I finish reading the first book or Darkhouse, I thought that it's not really scary contrary to the reviews I've read, or  maybe unconsciously I did not let myself really get into it for me not to be scared. But as I read book after book, the story keeps on getting better and scarier. I  did not realize how affected I was till I decided to take a short break and get some coffee... so when I was in the kitchen making some coffee, I didn't realize my mom is already awake so when she suddenly spoke to me, I freaked-out and let a not so small scream lol. That's the thing with scary books, you'll never know how effective it is until you finish reading it, let it all sink in and then you'll suddenly remember all the scary parts. Just like watching horror movies, while watching you'll scream and all but that's just it.. not until you decided to sleep, then you'll remember the movie and that's when you get really paranoid and scared..

Every book in the series was scarier than the last but when I started reading book 3 which is
Dead Sky Morning, I definitely reach a different kind of scared and paranoid, it doesn't really help that I sleep in the morning and read at night, Perry and Dex visits a tiny, fog-shrouded island and let's not forget... isolated during that time. The Island history itself is enough to make all the hair on the back of my neck stand. The Island in the present was converted into some sort of a park, people go camp in the day but only a few dare to spend their nights in the island. Given a chance, I'll will definitely not spend even 30 minutes of my life in an island where back in the day.. it was an island full of leper, that was left to rot, die and bury each other *shudder. Lots of creepy and scary-I-might-just-pee-my-pants-moments happens in Dead Sky Morning..earning a 6/5 creepy stars.

Lying Season, the forth book in the series... even-though not as intense as Dead Sky Morning when it comes to scaring the crap out of me, includes lots of scary moments but this book focuses more into Perry and Dex, their situation, feelings and etc. A lot of things happens here that will lead the next book, On Demon Wings to become what it is..Scarier than all the past book combined.

On Demon Wings (5th book), I can't even describe how freaked-out, scared out of my wits and extremely paranoid I am during and after reading this. It's like re-watching reading Exorcism of Emily Rose but more, everything is fucked-up, even the minor characters, it's like Perry can't trust everyone.. I was scared because of what's happening but more than that, I was scared because I'm no longer sure whom Perry should trust anymore. I think that On Demon Wings, so far is the scariest of all the books in this series..I'm kind of expecting a nightmare tonight from this book alone.

Old Blood, book 5.5 tells us the story of "Creepy Clown Lady", the old Creepy lady who keeps on showing herself to Perry, giving her cryptic messages. Aside from Creepy Clown Lady, we also get to see a glimpse of Dex life as a child.

Into the Hollow, the 6th book in the series. I thought that this book is one of the least scary books in the series or maybe I just reach my limit of being scared, I'm so scared from reading the 5th book, that I kinda get numb and all lol. Even-though I didn't get scared-out-my-wits-scared from reading this doesn't mean that this book is not good, honestly.. the story as always is good if not better and involves lots of scary situations. But unlike the previous one, were dealing a sort of an animal..nah a monster here, with physical body and all so..I was not that scared which if it's real I should be, because this monster/s is really dangerous, the killing-type dangerous.

The 7th book which is Come Alive, will be out this coming june....
